Practice Description
At this time, I am re-evaluating my role as an advanced practice nurse after 31 years in the public health arena (retired 12/2022). Hopefully, a little history will be helpful.... In my 30s I became interested in cross cultural healing and medicine practices, spending several years studying shamanism which incorporates the use of imagery. During my nursing career, I had been a part time massage therapist, and became a certified oncology massage therapist from 2008 - 2015. In my graduate program (completed in 2003) my Clinical Specialty in Holistic Nursing focused on the integration of multiple complementary therapies in conjunction with conventional cancer treatments (surgery & chemotherapy) for gynecological cancer patients. Using my own ovarian cancer (1998) and breast cancer (1999) diagnoses which occurred during my graduate program, I used my personal experience as a model in my final graduate project. Imagery was a major integrative modality in my personal recovery, and I have incorporated and valued imagery in all aspects of my life. My life has been about healing, and although I'm not sure in this time of "re-imagining" what the outcome will be, my hope is that my application will be accepted. Thank you.
