Hello Everyone.

Welcome to the Imagery International website. I hope you’ll spend some time browsing here to learn as much as you wish about our organization and the healing powers of imagery.  By “imagery” we mean

“the thought process that invokes and uses the senses: vision, audition, smell, taste, the sense of movement, position, and touch. It is the communication mechanism between perception, emotion, and bodily change. A major cause of both health and sickness, the image is the world’s greatest healing resource. Imagery, or the stuff of the imagination, affects the body intimately on both seemingly mundane and profound levels (Imagery and Healing: Shamanism and Modern Medicine, p. 3 – by Jeanne Achterberg, written in 1985).”

Currently, with the advent of technology, we are gathering little known facts about an emerging field that touches virtually all modalities in healthcare and personal growth. We share a tremendous diversity in our international membership with many practitioners who are both trainers and who have trained in Imagery Schools. Please look in our directory for a practitioner in your area and/or join our list of providers if you are already a practitioner engaged in this work.

Our 2011 annual conference was a rousing success (please see the highlights on the past events page).  We already have our theme decided upon and we have reserved our dates at the beautiful Mercy Center in Burlingame, California, once again, for our 2012 conference, entitled Imagery and the Soul. The conference will be co-sponsored by Beyond Ordinary Nursing (BON) again, and it will take place on October 5 – 7th. Our conference Chair, Jann Fredrickson-Ramus and her committee are already receiving inquiries from possible presenters and we are sure to have a stunning array of workshops. Because of all the generous donations to our Silent Auction, spearheaded by Doreen Leighton, we are able to now offer a couple of scholarships to the conference.

You will be able to read details about our conferences and much more in our quarterly e-journal which you will find here—ImagiNews—in beautiful, sparkling color. Many of our members opt to pay a little extra in order to receive a printed copy in the mail. The theme for our December issue is Transition. I am confident that you will be moved and inspired by the articles featuring the theme. Be sure to read the cover artist’s story (Scar Freeman) about the painting revealing a Transition in her life. Our co-editors, Bev Hollander and Judith Ewing, do a tremendous job. This year Bev was awarded Imagery Person of the Year, not only for her selfless service for ImagiNews, but for many other blessings she has given our organization as well.

We continue to offer podcasts of interviews with visionaries from the Imagery healing community. Those interviews are available for podcast listening.  Previous telechat recordings are still available to members as well. Check our calendar for those and other events.

Our blog is a wonderful place to read about various Imagery applications, research, CDs, videos, topics of interest to our field, etc. Imagery International programs and activities are announced there. Just click on the right side of your screen here and you will see what we are offering.

I wrote a melody and some words for someone special and I am offering it to you as a New Year’s gift. Shantha Sri contributed the musical accompaniment. It is entitled Ode to Meredith Echoes of the Stillpoint. Enjoy!
