Hello everyone. Thank you for the tremendous response to my plea for articles. You made this July ImagiNews possible. I had been feeling somewhat discouraged and especially concerned about letting all of you down without a June issue. You lifted my spirits with your support.

As you may recall, the theme is “Resolution.” Most of the articles address the theme directly, while others do so indirectly. I think it’s another winner.

As you will find out when you read Sandy Warnken’s article – our new website is up and running pretty darn well. Don’t you just love the artwork and colors on each page!? Sandy and our Website Technologist, Jenn, have done a marvelous job! Thank you for your perseverance and patience. Please be sure to review the personal info we have for you as an Imagery Practitioner. You can edit your own information there. Whatever we could cull from your membership application is what is there. I have found that mine needed updating. Be sure to check out yours.

We are especially excited to have our conference registration process readily available online now. It’s a breeze to register for the event. Take a look at Imageryinternational.org. and find the link to the conference registration.

There will be six fascinating workshops by accomplished presenters, along with great musical entertainment on Saturday evening. We have included, due to popular request, an experiential Imagery practicum with trained mentors to help and observe. We think the prices are great!! Early bird member is only $175!! Early bird non-member $215.

We will be presenting the Imagery Person of the Year award at our annual meeting (held immediately before the conference begins). I sure hope to see you there!

Next theme will be Serendipity. I find moments like this regularly – don’t you? Please share your story of how Serendipity shows up in your life. Your submissions are welcome and can be sent to me via the internet: bev@sheppardwest.com. Almost anything goes: poems, case presentations, jokes, artwork, educational opportunities and stories. Please send them off to me by August 15th. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Oh, by the way, we need a new Editor as I am ready to retire from the role. It’s an adventure and an opportunity for you to unleash your creativity. Please consider giving it a try or the last quarter’s issue may be just that – the “last.”

Warmly,

Bev

PS  Our second annual conference titled Imagery for the Future: Illuminating Lives is October 22-24, 2010. Check it out  here.

“Joy” being our theme this quarter, I must share with you a beautiful event I recently witnessed. I was waiting curbside at the airport for my husband’s arrival when I noticed a 30-something man and an older gray-bearded gentleman, who I guessed might be his father, exiting the airport. As they reached the sidewalk, two young girls came running towards the older man. The younger of the two girls arrived first. She
raced towards the elder of the two gentlemen (grandfather?) with a gorgeous smile on her face and threw herself into his arms, squealing in delight. The second girl arrived right behind her and did the same. The “grandfather” was engulfed in this two person hug and I had to Imagine, because his back was to me, the smile on his face and the Joy he surely felt having such a loving and Joyful welcome. Tears sprang to my eyes witnessing this special event.

As always, each article in the issue relates to “Joy” in some way. I won’t say any more about them here because you might enjoy the surprises that await you. I want to thank all of our contributors for their dedication and efforts that make each issue of ImagiNews possible.

The theme this month, Healing, really caused me to think deeply.

I found myself re-reading a book I have had for several years – Healers on Healing – a 1989 compilation of essays by renowned Healers edited by Richard Carlson, Ph.D. and Benjamin Shield. I was struck by the many ideas formulated. Because at least two of the contributors are in the Imagery field and known to many of us, I thought I’d quote from their essays.
