What are Afformations? A Free Teleseminar with Susan Fox, Presenter

Monday, February 1st, 2016

Affirmations to Afformations: An Evolution

We’ve all used affirmations to varying degrees of success but could there be a way to make them even more effective? Enter Afformations introduced by Noah St. John, a new twist on the affirmation.

Afformations are posed as questions, rather than statements. In this way, the subconscious strives to answer the forgone conclusion (and thus back it up) rather than argue or dispute it. In posing it as a question, the subconscious already accepts it as true!

Join us for this FREE teleseminar with Susan Fox, CEO of Brainview Training Institute, who will share with us this ground breaking method. Susan is a certified hypnotist and brain dialog researcher and has developed a series of release and transform scripting exercises that help clients become happier. We are delighted she has agreed to present to us for this FREE program.

Juliet Rohde-Brown, PhD

Juliet Rohde-Brown – Imagery International’s next president – will talk about Imagining Foregiveness – her integrative model for wellness. She has a new book out Imagine Forgiveness: A Guide for a Joyful Future. She has also produced three CDs  Feel Welcome Now, Feel Forgiveness Now, and Chakra Mountain. Feel Forgiveness Now won 2nd place in the 2009 Just Plain Folks Awards.

Juliet writes:

I feel quite passionate about our ability to use our imaginations to create a more positive and loving future. When we use the term “imagery,” it does not simply refer to the visual field, but to all of our senses. Dr. Jeanne Achterberg, a leader in imagery exploration and application, refers to imagery as “the thought process that invokes and uses the senses: vision, audition, smell, taste, the senses of movement, position and touch. It is the communication between perception, emotion, and bodily change.”

Judith Ewing hosts

Our host for this telechat is a new board member Judith Ewing, who is coming in as a Member-at-Large and new co-editor of ImagiNews.

We attempt to record our telechats as a podcast (mp3) which will be available in future in the member’s section.

Dr. Juliet Rohde-Brown is a licensed clinical psychologist in California. Her orientation is integrative, and she embraces a multicultural perspective in her psychotherapeutic practice. She is also a core faculty member and the director of practicum for a doctoral program in psychology at Antioch University in Santa Barbara, California.

Value of Relaxation & Guided Imagery to Improve Quality of Life with Multiple Sclerosis
with Miriam Franco, PsyD and Guided Imagery Specialist

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) affects approximately 400,000 Americans and millions world wide. It is an autoimmune disorder whose cause is unknown

Miriam Franco, PsyD

and has no cure.

There are 4 types of MS identified yet the majority of individuals affected are diagnosed initially with Relapsing Remitting MS (RRMS) which is characterized by flare ups with heightened muscle weakness, fatigue and spasticity. Rates of anxiety and depression are 3 times higher with MS than in the general American population. With Relapsing Remitting MS, women outnumber men 3 to 1. Due to advances in MRI technology, individuals with MS can now be diagnosed in their late teens. The majority of those with MS live with this condition from young adulthood on. With time, secondary progression of the disease can lead to physical immobility, incontinence, and increased assistance with activities of daily living. 50% suffer from cognitive impairments.

How to Read Mental Images: Learning the Hieroglyphic Language of the Mind for Clinical Use

with Gerald Epstein, MD

Dr. Epstein

Hieroglyphs – the pictorial language of the ancient Egyptian Pharaonic tradition is the only language ever to unite art and the spiritual dimension. In an analogous fashion, mental imagery is a hieroglyphic language where a pictorial representation intersects and combines with a divine language. The image is the true and natural language of the mind. These representations are called symbols, reflecting our everyday visible measurable reality and our invisible subjective qualitative consciousness – itself the repository of all the knowledge of ourselves. This language, like any other, is to be read as it is a book of life revealing ourselves to ourselves. In this talk I will discuss how to apply this method to both reading and fashioning imagery in your clinical practice.

January 7 Telechat: Personal Healing Imagery

Monday, February 1st, 2010

Telechat date: January 7, 5-6 PM Pacific Standard Time

Flying Solo: Doing Non-Scripted Imagery without a Guide

with Leslie Davenport, MFT

Leslie Davenport, MFT

While we recognize the many benefits of experiencing imagery with an imagery practitioner, not everyone lives in an area where trained guides are easily accessible. Some people are restricted due to financial issues, and others who could benefit may be home bound. Most people compromise by using a scripted imagery CD, which eliminates the personally unique guidance that arises from within with an interactive style of imagery. This talk will present a successfully tested format that people can use on their own to access their personal healing imagery. It is also useful for clients who want to keep their imagery fresh and evolving between their appointments with a trained practitioner. This format can also be adapted to doing imagery work with a group.

Members click here to email us a note for the telechat you wish to attend. We will send back the phone number and bridge.

We offer qualified non-member professionals a one time opportunity to join the conversation. Click here to request admission to the telechat.

Leslie Davenport founded the Humanities Program at Marin General Hospital, which evolved into the Institute for Health and Healing in collaboration with California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco.
