Podcast January 2012: Heather LaFace, PhD

Monday, January 16th, 2012

The topic for January 2012′s Podcast is “Imagery and Evolutionary Complexity“.  It is indeed a heady topic as it brings a number of fields together says Heather LaFace, PhD.  She gives our host Juliet Rohde-Brown, PhD a lengthy explanation of this new field.  She also provides on request an experiential Guided Imagery exercise that Juliet finds very helpful for building confidence within.

Heather LaFace

Adolescence is a time of deep relational engagement where the body’s changes becomes so important we take up all these interactions when healing.

Adolescents are  learning to have symbolic experiences for the first time. Image production is relational. It’s generated on it’s own cord. LaFace is interested in how images bridge mind and body, inner and outer in adolescents. Their movement is out into the world and away from family.

Heather is a PhD student in Clinical Psychology and is a licensed Psychological Assistant working with individuals, couples and adolescents in a Westwood private practice under the supervision of Dr. Elaine Schulman, PhD. Heather also works as a Psychological Assistant under the supervision of Dr. Marshall Levy, PhD and serves as clinical staff in a multidisciplinary team at a long-term inpatient psychiatric hospital where she works with the chronically and severely mentally ill in treating a wide range of psychological issues, including: mood and anxiety disorders, psychoses, alcohol and substance abuse, and dual diagnosis.

Hello all you Imagery Lovers everywhere!!

Jann Fredrickson, LICSW

Yes, I am writing about the FOURTH annual Imagery International’s Conference:  “Imagery and the Soul.”  Our third annual was an even bigger success than our first two and I KNOW this one will be our best yet.

So, why am I writing, you might ask?  Because I am going to begin receiving proposals to speak for us on January the 31, 2012.  I will accept them until April 30th which gives YOU plenty of time.  Be thinking about what you might like to teach us, enlighten us about, or just plain entertain us with.  I want you also to know that last year we received a record number of proposals and so we chose the best ones.  I am sure this year will even be greater than last year!!  So, get yours in EARLY.

This year’s conference is October 5-7, 2012 at the beautiful Mercy Center retreat in Burlingame, California.   I am letting you know in plenty of time so that you can join us in October.  This has really turned out to be our great Imagery Reunion.

We don’t have specific data up yet on our website but you can always call me at: 651-208-6458 Eastern Standard Time.  I am TWO HOURS ahead of you wonderful California folks so be mindful of this when you call.   Actually, the job I recently took requires me to be on call 24/7…..isn’t employment lovely??

Love to all of you and I cannot wait to see you at our FOURTH annual
Imagery Conference!!

Experience a new teaching tool where technology, science, nature and healing intersect! This is a sensorium and imagery visual palette for healing consciousness with the elements.  Said Osio, a featured speaker at Imagery International’s Third Annual Conference, offers a free deeper guided Imagery healing toolkit on LinkedIn.  His website is illuminated with images containing rich colors and complex patterning.

Said Osio

Experience where technology, science, nature and healing intersect! See a new kind of Powerpoint guided Imagery tool kit: Deeper Guided Imagery Centers and Liquid Light ( wait and read resource as well! ) /guided-imagery-resources/blog

With the ever evolving learning’s in neuro-biology, plasticity, mindfulness as well as an impressive array of creative energy expanding healing horizons in medicine, architecture and design technology the Guided Imagery Collective, exploring creating a deeper approach to healing energy and  spirit mind-body consciousness, has developed its first offering and is releasing a new guided imagery toolset for health care professionals ( Nurses ) practitioners, caregivers, and anyone seeking healing intelligence. This is a free toolset for enhancing learning as well as expanding the building blocks of a visual healing intelligence. A Storyboard Tool Kit: Centers of liquid light.

This tool teaches a process for visual learning, a new visual language for deepening spirit mindbody and healing intelligence, where one can see oneself embodied in union, a visual language of healing symbolism, a stripped visual language as a vocabulary, a pattern language, accessing and tuning into the sensorium of energy through nature’s elements of earth, air, fire and water (the water element is the first release and fire scheduled as the second), a manuscript of nature’s grammar, its elements and the blueprint of living systems from DNA to cells and organs. Conference Starts this Friday

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

Imagery International conference starts this Friday, September 30. Shhhhh the official deadline is past, but commuters will be welcome up to the start of the conference. See our conference page for more information.

Jann Fredrickson, LICSW

Jann Fredrickson-Ramus is our conference chair and MC. She is the most enthusiastic imagery practitioner I’ve ever met. That enthusiasm is unflagging and contagious. Coupled with her gift for teaching and leadership (she is a Past President of Imagery International and Imagery Person of the Year for 2005 and writes in ImagiNews under the byline ‘Imagery Here and There’) she has a knack for creating delicious, nurturing, enlightening and motivating gatherings. At her conferences not only do we learn about practical practice applications and intellectual stuff and earn CEUs for it, we enjoy playfulness and humor too. You are invited to sit back relax, enjoy and let your hair down.

If you are an energy psychologist, you will feel the energy of the room shift from contraction to expansion with grounding. There is something about our imagery conferences that goes on beneath the surface and carries a sense of well being beyond it.

If you are interested in learning more, want to improve your skills, meet with like minded people or be in the healing energy of our professional healers, come to Mercy Center in Burlingame this Friday, September 30.

Friday evening we will hold our annual meeting.  The Imagery Person of the Year will be revealed. This year we will hold a silent auction.  The public is welcome to come and bid on some very interesting items.
