Healing Trauma and Treating PTSD Recovering from the Newtown School Shooting and Preventing Another
by Emmett Miller, MD

You don’t have to be there at ground zero to be impacted and even profoundly traumatized by an event as horrific as the Newtown Massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Even President Obama cried.

Because much of my work has been helping people heal from trauma and abuse, I have been asked to comment on the recent school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

In this podcast I will be sharing some suggestions on:
1.    How you can release and heal from any trauma you might feel in the wake of this tragedy.
2.    What you can do to answer deeper questions like: Why did this shooting happen? Why do these things continue to happen? And is there something that I can do about it?

Thank you so much for spending time with me, I wish you infinite blessings, unconditional love, and the presence to fully enjoy them.

Belleruth Naparstek’s Thoughts on Helping Newtown

On the Complexities of Volunteering Time and Resources to Newtown
by Belleruth Naparstek
Monday, 17 December 2012

[This is an excerpt from Belleruth Naparstek’s blog.]

Belleruth Naparstek

It’s hard to wish everyone a happy holiday with such insanity swirling around us.  This latest tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School defies words, as many have already said.  But all of us here at Health Journeys wish all of you peace and healing nonetheless, after this latest national tragedy.

We got several concerned notes last week, asking us to please donate our guided imagery to those affected by the tragic and unimaginable events in Newtown.  One person wrote,

I am writing to ask if you would make yourself or your media available to the families and little ones of Newtown, Conn.  I have had such wonderful success with your guided imagery and healing words I would hope you could send some CDs to the Sandy Hook Elementary School. I know your words could help to bring peace and comfort to many others if you could find it in your heart to make it readily available. Thank you for giving yourself to so many who need you in this troubled world.

First, let me just say that there isn’t a staff person at Health Journeys who doesn’t find it in his/her oversized heart to help in some way.  We are always deeply glad to be able to create a web page with free streams and downloads for survivors of tragedies.  And we’ve done so for those impacted by Katrina, Virginia Tech, Tucson and Chardon High School. (A sample of the page we built for Chardon survivors is here.)

By Bev Hollander, BSN, MS, HNB-BC

Hello All,

Bev Hollander

Hi again everyone,
I am delighted to share this “Prosperity” issue with you. The variation and breadth of submissions has me tickled pink and I can definitely say that ImagiNews continues to Prosper . At first I thought everyone would be stumped with the theme because you might think of Prosperity as having to be all about money. As you will find out in reading these pages, a lot can be said about Prosperity of the soul. I hope you enjoy the variety of articles in this issue – from a detailed review of the conference to Prosperity of the spirit to Prosperity of finances with several Imagery scripts in the mix as well.

In particular, I am so grateful to Bobby Duval for sharing a story with all of us. At our October conference, I rekindled and deepened my relationship with Bobby, and, in our mutual sharing, I learned about her fascinating relationship with the Frontier Nursing Service. Just wait until you read her story – it will take you back in time to a type of nursing most of us never experienced!

I also want to publically acknowledge my oversight during my conference presentation – Imagery for Deep Soul Connection. I did not adequately identify my source for the collage process I utilized. Mine was a modified version of SoulCollage® developed by Seena Frost. I sent an email apology on the II ListServe as well as to members who have email addresses. A couple people responded and believed that I had identified my source. I thank you for your support. However, I wondered a bit after I presented if I had made enough mention of my source. There were definitely those of you who thought I had not stressed SoulCollage® enough. I feel very grateful that it was called to my attention. I hope for the gentle kindness of understanding and forgiveness from any one of you who was offended by my oversight.

In conclusion, the theme of our March issue will be “Suffering” and submissions are accepted now until February 1st, 2013. Please send to me: editor@imageryinternational.com. Submission guidelines can be found on our website below the image of ImagiNews HERE.

Call for Proposals

Sunday, December 2nd, 2012

Proposals are due February 8, 2013.  Conference is October 4 to 6 at Mercy Center in Burlingame, California, USA

Hello all you wonderful Imagery Lovers Everywhere!

Jann Fredrickson-Ramus

Remember how I told you that I would be asking for proposals soon?  Well,
that time is here!  I will be accepting proposals from now until the 8th of
February, 2013.

What I need from you when you submit your proposal:

1.  Two objectives.
2.  Proposal should be written in an outline style clearly stating what you
are presenting.
3.  Presentations that are EXPERIENTIAL tend to be chosen over those that
are basically lecture.  Presentations are to be 90 minutes long.
4.  Proposals must have something to do with our theme: “The Magic of
Imagery”.
5.  We do not pay our speakers.  All travel and lodging is your responsibility.  We do pay your tuition to the conference.
6.  At the end of the proposal, please state your audio-visual needs.
7.  If you are chosen, a contract will be sent to you and ONLY WHEN YOU
RETURN the contract will you be considered a presenter.
8.  You are free to “hawk your wares” at tables provided at the conference. All proceeds from your book sales, CD sales, and the like are yours and we take no cut from these proceeds.  HOWEVER, during your presentation you may
mention your book, etc. ONCE.  We don’t want the presentations to be all about self-promotion and not about the Magic of Imagery.
