From the President’s Mind & Editor’s Imagination

Welcome to the Dec issue with its theme of Illumination. Most of this journal has been created by yours truly. Judith Ewing was elected as a new Board Member at our annual Board Retreat and is now my Co-Editor. We met for the first time in person during the Imagery International conference at Vallombrosa. And now we are practically joined at the hip. I think our collaboration will make ImagiNews an even greater product for you. She has already contributed to this issue significantly with her insight and thoughtfulness, as well as a book review. We are excited to be working together. My dream is for her to eventually go solo as ImagiNews’ editor. We might have too much fun for me to give it up though!

Judith wanted me to share her thoughts about this issue’s cover artwork as ours was a mutual decision as to which of two pieces we wanted to use. As follows: “Keeping the theme of ‘Illumination’ in mind, my thoughts first centered upon what Illumination represents. To me, Illumination represents a kaleidoscope of beautiful light hues ebbing and flowing throughout, over, under, and around our heart-field, simultaneously caressing the heart with love while moving us toward enlightenment. Being heart-centered during the evolution of enlightenment is an important key. Also, love is a major part of the process of enlightenment: love of self, others, and the planet.

Thus, what I see depicted in the heart picture are gentle directional pathways through which loving light enters the heart-field. Such energetic Illumination begins a process wherein intermingling, interacting, and integrative movements of enlightenment fuel the heart with healing energy. As healing occurs, movements of enlightenment additionally regenerate and stimulate the intensity of luminous light which then flows outward, again through the same directional pathways, returning love to others and the universe.

In viewing the heart picture further, another thought that comes to mind is this: whenever I think of someone who becomes my very best friend, someone who unconditionally loves and guides me along my path of enlightenment, I refer to them as my “heart friend”. To close my eyes and think of them creates gratitude and Illumination within my soul. Thanks, Bev, for the delight in deepening our new friendship, and for the joy you bring to our co-editorship of the ImagiNews.”

Now to the theme at hand:

Definitions of Illumination

1. The act of Illuminating, or supplying with light; the state of being Illuminated.

2. That which Illuminates or gives light; brightness; splendor; especially, intellectual light or knowledge.

3. The special communication of knowledge to the mind by God; inspiration.

I had never considered the third definition. Nor had I consciously associated intellectual light or knowledge (from #2) with God’s inspiration. I do believe the two go hand in hand and they happen all the time – light & inspiration. There is definitely a spiritual aspect to it for me. How about for you?
Each one of the articles and contributions herein contain Illuminating thoughts and inspiration. Please enjoy!

March’s theme is Passion. Please send your contributions to either me – or to Judith at by Feb 15th.

Happy Holidays!
